I loved the way she took the reader into Jessica's subconscious mind to explore the place where her murder haunted the dreams. This was done masterfully and expertly. And Kylie Brant managed to take the reader into a dark and twisty alternate universe all her own. The characters are believable and the author created them completely. They were brilliantly written and utterly gripping.

The second book in the series, Murder Haunted, was released in April, 2021. This time around the killer is a man in his thirties. He has been a free spirit in society for several years and feels he no longer needs a reason to live. He doesn't want a relationship because he knows he'll never find one, and he certainly doesn't want to end up hurting Jessica. He leaves her in need of an expert on relationships to get him back out of her life and help her remember him.

What makes this romantic book so great is that it deals solely with love. There isn't any lust involved or mention of lust. The main characters aren't even mentioned by name. The entire novel is just a story about two lovers who find themselves caught up in a violent situation and must work together to survive. It is heartbreaking and truly remarkable. This novel was an absolute pleasure to read and I would highly recommend it.

While all romance novels have a happy ending, some of them don't have a happy ending at all. That's why it is important to really dig deep into what the characters want in order to write a satisfying ending. Don't give your readers any more than you have to.
