How to Save Money on Computer Printers
Within the computer printers industry there are currently two competing technologies, traditional inkjet printers and " Bubble Jet " printers. Their output is very similar, but they each utilize a different printing technology. Early computer printers operated very similarly to a typewriter. A key was pressed into the computer keyboard to produce characters. Then a series of dots were printed on a paper that was moved into the printer. These dots contained ink that was loaded into the inkjet cartridge.

The dot matrix printers, as their name suggests, used a line of dots to represent the characters that were to be printed. Early computers printers were very similar to this method. A small ball was placed inside the printer, and as the ball passed through the ink-roller, the ink would be printed. The ball then exited the printer, and the newly printed lines made from the ink were pushed into the inkjet heads.

Early dot matrix printers used a roller or pin for carrying the ink from the inks to the print head. This design had a couple of drawbacks. Often print heads would become clogged with dirt and debris, which would prevent the ball from passing through them. Secondly, because the roller or pin was in constant contact with the surface of the paper, the print head would eventually wear out and need to be replaced. Many home and small office printers were designed to operate using these roller and pin designs.

A newer innovation to computer printing technology is known as laser printers. Unlike dot-matrix printers, laser printers do not require a roller or ink wheel. Instead, the laser printer uses a light source (a laser diode) to strike the ink on the paper. Because there are no ink particles released in the process, there is no need to keep the print head clean.

Dot-matrix printers use an ink ribbon to transfer the ink from a computer printer ribbon disc to paper. Dot matrix printing is popular with office printing because it produces high-quality output at a very low cost. Dot-matrix printing can be done on standard-size documents and can be combined with other printing technologies such as thermal or pigmented ink. It is often used in graphics programming and image editing applications.

Inkjet and laser printing technologies are both based on the same technology called dot-saturation. Dot-saturation occurs when the ribbon is heated by a laser or other light source to produce color. The color is produced by the colored dots on the ribbon. how to connect printer to computer Originally, dot-saturation printers were designed to be more efficient than traditional dot-matrix printers and to be used more often in office printing.

Many people confuse dot-saturation with a crayon-style printer. The dots are not crayon-style but are actually tiny silica dots that are put into a mold, similar to how clay is made. This technique is similar to how stencils are made, just in a much smaller fashion.

Finally, let's talk about some of the differences between ink jet and laser printers. Laser printers are much faster and print faster than ink jet printers. Laser printers work better for color jobs and allow for many extra color options, including CMYK. Also, laser printers are better with printing text and black and white documents, though they are also perfect for photo printing. Ink jet printers work best with document color, and have a special print head that pushes the color out the side of the cartridge onto the paper.

Selectric printers work differently from dot matrix, though they are both very efficient. Selectric printers use a motor to move the rollers around when printing. When the rollers stop, so does the file. This allows documents to be printed on a flat surface without a crayon-like quality, which is probably the main reason they aren't as popular as dot-matrix printers.

Another important difference is between dot matrix and thermal printers. A dot matrix printer has a single color print head that feeds a ribbon through the paper. When a color is fed through a thermal printer, the printer heats up the paper that it is feeding. This causes the ink to spread out across the paper much like a spray, creating a very high-quality result. dot matrix printers aren't nearly as energy efficient as thermal printers, which is why you may find that an inkjet printer will be cheaper overall.

Whether you are printing a simple black and white document or a full-sized poster, you will find that you can save money with xerox and other printer brands. If you are printing a lot of pages, either for personal use or business purposes, you may want to consider a combination laser/dot matrix printer. Regardless of which brand of printer you choose, you are likely to get more for your dollar if you shop around.
