How To Renew A Driving Licence?
Assuming you're in good health, your licence expires at age 70, but will continue, provided you renew it. There's no upper age limit to driving, so you can renew your licence for as long as you feel able to drive safely. Don’t forget to apply for any categories of vehicle covered on your old licence, if you still want to be able to drive them after you renew your licence. If you still have a paper driving licence issued before 1998, you don't have to worry about 10-yearly updates.
It can be difficult to accept that we’re no longer able to do something safely, that has been a routine part of life. But reducing or giving up driving doesn’t mean the end of your independence or mobility. Public transport and even taxis can be cheaper than car owning. If driving licence change of address doesn't improve after you've been told not to drive, you can't drive again. Talk to your GP before reapplying for your licence, so you can prove your condition has improved. You then give permission to allow DVLA to contact doctors and accept you may be required to have a medical examination.
If you fail to meet the renewal deadline you will be required to make a new application for a taxi driver licence. You can use Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Electron, or Delta debit or credit card to pay the fee. The service is free for people over 70 or those with a medical short period licence. As a rule, DVLA will send a reminder before the current licence ends. You can complete the driving licence application online using the digital DVLA system. If you have a paper driving licence issued before 1998, you don’t have to update your licence every 10 years.
If you want to change your name or title on your licence you must apply by post. You also need your National Insurance number and must not be currently disqualified from driving. To renew your licence you must complete the application form again. You must also pay the appropriate fee at the time of submitting your applicaiton.
If you’re over 70 and want to keep on driving, you’ll have to renew your driving licence. On this page we’ll explain how you can renew your driving licence, and give you some advice to keep you safely on the road in later life. You can do this online, by post or at the post office and it’s free of charge. The '4b' renewal date is generally 10 years after the date the licence was last issued with a new photo. But for drivers nearing or over 70 years of age, or with medical restrictions, it's the date when your entitlement to drive ends.
If dvla address change do not have a valid UK passport, then you cannot renew your licence online. You can apply to renew your licence either online or by post. If you apply online, your new licence should be posted to you within seven working days. If you apply through the Post Office or via the postal service, then it could take around three weeks to receive your new photocard. There are three different ways to renew your driving licence. You should receive a reminder from the DVLA before the expiration date if you have supplied them with an up-to-date address.
