Neo-Gothic architecture is an architectural style which originated in the late 17th century in England. Its revival and the growing interest for the medieval styles of the past took place in the middle of the 19th century when more serious and knowledgeable architectural enthusiasts sought to preserve the classical architectural style. This was in contrast to the stylized neoclassical styles. The architectural style was rediscovered and a variety of new styles were created which were totally different from the traditional styles.
In the early years of the new Gothic architecture style, the most well-known type was residential buildings. As the style evolved more elaborate and ornate structures were gaining popularity. This movement peaked during the late Victorian period, and gradually spread to two parts of the United States of America. The most notable characteristic of this style of architecture is its heavy Gothic decorated Victorian influences.
Neo-Gothic architecture has its greatest influence from the art of the Medieval period and the Romanticists. This is due to the enormous influence of artists like Hans Memling, Edvard Munch and Mary Cassatt on the development of modern Gothic architecture. This style of architecture is a significant influence of the French Medieval architecture style. Jan Van Eyck and Albert Kahn were also influential in designing this style of architecture. รับสร้างบ้าน Hugo van der Goes was also inspired by the works of these artists.
Neo-gothic architecture is distinguished by a large number of architectural features, such as pointed arches round forms, windows, and pointed arches. It is evident that the use of geometric shapes extensively took place in this era. Modern designs are mostly taken from the medieval period which includes the use of pointed arches or courtyards. Neo-Gothic structures have pointed arches and round forms that evoke the traditional styles of medieval times.
Pointed arches are an ode to medieval architecture. There are a number of similarities between the designs used in medieval architecture and the forms utilized in neo-gothic architecture. One of the most evident examples is the use of pointed arches on most structures in Chartres or Paris. Most of the churches in London have pointed arches, and these designs are an obvious evidence of the influence of the medieval period.
Many stunning examples of Gothic art can also be found in Neo-Gothic architectural styles. Many of the buildings built in this style show signs of the intricate carvings typical of this kind of architecture. Many of the Parisian churches are embellished with intricate carvings of this period. Another characteristic of these structures is that they are typically built in flat shapes. This makes it easier to move them from one place to the next.
The University of Cincinnati, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the most well-known structure to bear the hallmark of Neo-Gothic architectural style. The architect responsible for the construction of the university was John Seiler. The main entrances include the College Mall, Western Hall and Science Center. This is an eye-catching feature. The Science Center has a planetarium similar to those found in real star attractions. One of the most interesting aspects about the architecture of the Science Center is that all the glass panels that are found on the exterior of the building are identical to those found in the State Capitol Building. This suggests that the architectural designers at the University of Cincinnati were trying to replicate the look of the State Capitol Building while trying to design something of their own in the area around the campus.
One of the biggest universities in all of North America, in addition to being home to some of the top academic minds in all of the world, is also home to some impressive college Gothic architecture. Another well-known institution is the University of Texas at Austin where you can find many architects from the neo-gothic period. The laboratories of the school are like German universities constructed during the period of Gothic architecture. Many of the structures in the science center bear a striking resemblance with the German castles and churches. This is yet another illustration of how the neogothic architecture style can create structures that resemble old world castles, but maintaining the modern feel and spirit of the contemporary time.
