Leukemia is cancer of the blood cells. It starts in the bone marrows (the tissue inside the bone) in here, the blood cells are made. There are 3 types of blood cells, Red, White and platelets all with different functions. The red blood cells are the ones in charge of carrying oxygen to all your body parts. The white blood cells are the ones that fight against infections, and the platelets are the ones that help your blood clot.
When you get leukemia, this means your bone marrows start producing bad white cells, called leukemia cells. These cells grow faster and faster and faster, they can’t stop spreading. With time this bad cells or leukemia cells spread into normal blood cells, causing other diseases such as anemia, bleeding or even infections. This leukemia cells can also spread to organs, not only on blood cells, causing a worst disease.
There are several types of leukemia, specifically 4: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Acute myelogenous leukemia, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Chronic myelogenous leukemia
