A Writers Odyssey, a 2021 Chinese science fiction action-adventure film written and directed by Lu Yang, is called "A Writers Odyssey". The movie is about Qi Ling's daughter Ling Shan. They grew together as children. The film begins with Qi Ling trying to get the attention of a boy named Kai Lan, who belongs to the military force that is stationed at the city. Qi Ling gets the attention of the boy and invites him to join her martial arts school so that she can learn alongside her best friend.

The day they agree to team up two of their buddies arrive at the academy of martial arts to discover that it is guarded and controlled by soldiers. They fight their way across the campus, and end up fighting against several military personnel. After the battle, the two arrive at the top of the building, where they find an unconscious Kai Lan. The boy decides to remove the unconscious boy out of the building, while Qi Ling looks after Kai Lan.

Once the group finds the body, they hurry to locate the master of martial arts who was in charge of the army. The master is more experienced in martial arts than the rest of the group and shares his story with the group. They've never met one before, and they are stunned when he appears as a ghost-like form and begins to attack them. The masters then transfer their spirits into the body of a young woman named Miss Lin. They find that Lin has inherited the master's spirit and they begin working together developing an action plan to save the world.


The two martial artists are joined by the help of a Chinese mystic known as Huang Di. They work together to stop evil from ruining the world and make martial arts safe again. In the middle of their adventure, they learn that there is another chance for Miss Lin. In a different timeline, she had gotten married to Chow Teng, and thus established the powerful martial arts empire known as Lin Feng.
