I think that we need to keep the ready date column to dates only. Then if possible introduce another column which will indicate at what state of the process the plant is in. Technically we only need two options.. Growing and Retail. Growing would indicate that the plant is still growing and only production sees that we have those plants and Retail would indicate that the plants are out there to sell which would allow the sales team to view the product.
Also we need to figure out how were going to process plants that we are carrying over from the previous season. In that case I think that we cannot use past avail as a selectable option because I want to keep it to number dates only. In these situations at the end of the season we need to figure out a way to re introduce them into the production schedule and give them ready dates for when they will be ready to sell that season. In the case it is right away then the ready date should be the first day of the year.
I think that two plant crops even if they are past their ready date should always be separated because ideally we would like to First In First Out aka sell the plants that are older first before the newer ones and currently we only have lot id's to differentiate between the two but that still doesnt show which one is the older crop
