Postmodern Architecture
Postmodern architecture, also referred to as "postmodernism," refers to an architectural style that encourages experimentalism and personalism. It was born out of an anger at traditional, conservative designs. It sought to design buildings that are fun and lively, while respecting the traditional rules. Some of the best examples of this style are listed below.

Facades. Facades are one of the most popular forms of postmodern architecture. They can be utilized to define or even enclose spaces. Stone or concrete are popular options for facades. There are many different facades to choose from, including the arched fascia and the twisting arched fascia, and the single-tiered, box-like roofline.

Public Buildings. In addition to private residences numerous public buildings are considered as examples of postmodern design too. This includes parks and government buildings. Modern architects often combine traditional shapes and designs with modern elements.

Pitched Roofs. Also called roof gardens pitched roofs are standard features of many postmodern buildings. These roofs may be slanted or flat, and may not include vents. Some architects recommend not having vents in buildings because vents can attract all kinds of microorganisms like molds, which could be detrimental to the structure.

Zoning. Zones are a key element of postmodern architecture. Zones are used to mark distinct areas within a building and are usually built around certain criteria. For instance, a mall zone may contain only food outlets, whereas zones for movie theaters could contain multiple theaters. This is similar to real estate development, where certain zones or zones are designated for specific kinds of structures.

Lighting in the interior can serve to define postmodern architecture. This can be seen in many modern houses, since it allows more light to enter the room without making it appear less attractive. In the case of postmodern buildings, this absence of lighting in the interior does not need to translate into a loss in aesthetic value, as certain postmodern buildings have large windows that bring in a variety of natural light.

Venturi. Venturi architecture was developed from the principles of modernism. In essence, ventilation is an essential aspect of modernism's theories, and venturi structures use this to their advantage. As stated by some architects, the design of the future is "so simple that the methods of building and venture planning should probably supersede the whole Planning Code." In the century-old buildings air vents organized in geometric patterns permit fresh air to enter the building while the existing air is extracted via vents located further away from the building.

Postmodern architecture has unlimited possibilities. These concepts are however not limited to the 1960s. In the current era these movements were born out of concerns for the environment and growing concerns about urbanization and the impact urbanization could have on urban space. Now that the 1960s are long gone and with the wisdom that comes from the wisdom of experience, architects and designers have to make a difficult decision to decide how do they carry on the ideas of the 1960s and continue to build modern buildings and make the most of materials available today. This seemingly impossible task can be solved by the use of postmodern technology which can bring the past back to life on a smaller scale.

Postmodern architecture draws its inspiration in the past, and also the material used as inspiration. Most notable of these is the use of geometrical shapes. Geometrical shapes like cubes and rectangles as well as circles are extensively used to provide the basis for architecture. It is not uncommon to see a postmodern building framed by symmetrical, geometrical shapes such as dodecahedrons or a symmetrical trapezoid. It is also commonplace to see rounded shapes that appear like they have been "wetted" or exaggerated.

Postmodern buildings share certain similarities to other types of modern architecture. They tend to utilize products that are made instead of handcrafted. Also, the architectural styles usually have a sculptural quality, using elements of art and imagination into their design. Postmodern architecture has a unique blend of the forms of the building and other forms and shapes. This is a typical characteristic of minimalism. However, in order to attain the sculptural appeal of modern architecture, postmodern structures must employ complex geometric designs, such as trapezoids, which are typical among minimalist styles.

Modernism was born around the time World War II began. Postmodernism also came from the same milieu. It attempted to use war as an opportunity for new life and creativity in architecture. บริษัทสถาปนิก With its rejection of the rational and fundamentals of traditionalism Postmodern architecture tried to convey the emotions of postmodern society. These structures might appear straightforward and unassuming however, this simplicity is wrapped in layers of meaning and complexities. Postmodern buildings usually exhibit an aesthetic sensibility that surpasses the traditional and classicism generally - a characteristic that makes them stand out from the majority of the art world.
