When You're Stuck At Home, Do These Plumbing Cleanings
At this moment, cleaning your plumbing is probably the last thing on your mind. The plumbing in your home will become increasingly fragile as you spend more time socially distancing at home. It's very unlikely you'll get stuck at home because of a clogged toilet or faulty faucet.

Now, you have plenty you can do to help ensure your plumbing stays in full working order. You can take care of your plumbing fixtures easily for a while if you're looking for a simple and productive way to disengage from life for a short amount of time. Each of these cleaning and maintenance tasks is quick, easy, and requires no special tools at all:

Drains need cleaning
Most drain clogs don't happen at the same time. In the end, gunk and grime accumulates inside your drain pipes. Preventing most future clogs is easier if you clean out that gunk early. Regardless of whether you see clogs in your sink, shower, and tub drains, we recommend cleaning them periodically. This is the perfect opportunity! To make this, you will need vinegar, baking soda, and hot water.

Pour around one cup of baking soda down your drain. Put in a cup of white vinegar, followed by a 15-minute rest. Repeat this step on each of your drains while you are waiting. To clean a drain, boil one cup of water. Fill each drain with one cup of hot water after 15 minutes. A chemical reaction occurs between baking soda and vinegar, breaking up the gunk in your drains and flushing it away with hot water.

Be sure to clean your traps
The trap is the curved pipe beneath every sink that connects the drainpipe with the sewerpipe. P-traps, s-traps, and u-traps are measured by the shape of their curves. In a trap, the curve retains some of the flushed water. Using this water, sewer gas cannot rise back up through the drain, creating an air seal. Inadvertently flushing other stuff down the drain can clog traps.

Fortunately, traps are simple to remove and clean. Find the trap under your sink first. Curved, made of either metal or PVC, and connected to each pipe by 2 slip nuts. As soon as you have placed the bucket beneath the trap, you need to put on some rubber gloves. You can loosen the slip nuts by hand or with a wrench. Then pour everything out into the bucket. Clean out the trap after checking that nothing is caught in it. Retighten the slip nuts after you've finished cleaning the trap. Run the sink to ensure everything is working properly.

Keep your showerheads clean
Your shower may not be working in the way it used to. The cause of the problem is surprisingly simple: probably your showerhead. Scale, minerals, and other gunk may clog up your showerhead nozzles over time. Hard water causes this to happen more frequently. Showerhead cleaning is a quick and simple way to ensure you get the most out of your showers.

There are several ways to approach this. The nozzles can first be cleaned with an old toothbrush soaked in cleaning solution. In case that doesn't work, you can try throwing cup of white vinegar, cup of baking soda, and 1 cup of hot water (remember this?) into a plastic bag. Then, submerge the nozzles in the bag. Try removing the showerhead by following the manufacturer's directions. The showerhead filter should be cleaned in the sink. While you're at it, clean out the nozzles from the inside as well.

Cleaning shower grout of mold
