In the cycling world, the term hybrid refers to bicycles with electric motors . Yep, that's traditional push pedaling made easy with electricity . Instead of more gas mileage, you get more miles pedaling and best yet, you don't have to buy gas (because it's a bicycle).

You can get quite a bit of exercise if you use one of these bikes. You can pedal to get around on flat areas but use the motor to navigate steep inclines. In fact, you might end up exercising more if you ride one of these bikes because you will end up using it very frequently.

For an electric bike you don't have to take any test. Although in some countries there are restrictions. In the U.K. nobody under the age of fourteen is allowed to ride an electric bike on the road.

In many places the bike laws are based on factors such as how much power the engine has. If it has more than 200 watts, your electric bike may be considered a vehicle that needs to be registered before it can be driven. One of the types of this bicycle is a cruiser that's usually best for going around the city or a few blocks around your neighborhood. It's definitely not for mountain riding or traveling miles away from home. If you're looking at having an enjoyable, convenient, and comfortable bike ride, this is the type you should choose. It's great to take electric bikes like this when you're meeting your friends in the nearby coffee shop, going to and from your office that's just a few blocks away, or would just like to get some fresh air around the area.

Secondly take a good look at the front fork and suspension. For a powerful motor say 350 watts and above if you are going to build a front wheel drive kit you will want to use a bike with a steel fork. The motor is simply too powerful for an aluminum fork and it will bend or break out the drop outs. You definitely do not want to use a shock absorber/suspension fork. The advantage of a front drive kit is that they are very easy to install. If you were to use a rear drive kit, then it is possible to go with aluminum and suspension front forks.
