First Monday Trade Days may become a yearly event throughout East Texas, but that doesn't mean that it can't keep hundreds of thousands of people from traveling to Canton. Canton for four days each month. The event is open from Thursday through Saturday, on the Monday before First Monday every month, hundreds and vendors set up shop for hundreds of shopping opportunities.
The park that began over a century ago as an open-air market has evolved into home to some of the latest, most thrilling, high-tech furniture, antiques, and collectibles to be located anywhere. Over the past 150 years, many things have changed at The Original First Monday Park; however, the genuine, intimate human relationships between vendors and customers is the reason why people continue to return.
These are 2021's remaining trade days. First Monday Trade Days:
September 2nd - 5th
September 30th-October 3rd
October 28th - October 31st
December 2nd-5th
According to page on First Monday Trade Days website, it is the longest and oldest constantly operating outdoor flea market across the United States.
According to people who frequent trading, concept is that First Monday Trade Days started in the 1850's as the circuit judge was able to go to Canton on the first Monday of each month. Residents from all over the county would come to the city to participate in their court matters. In the course of time, residents would bring their own goods, whether it was livestock, produce or other original pieces, to sell or trade. Then in the year 1965 First Monday outgrew the city's Town Square so it was moved to the current premises. And the rest is history...
First Monday Trade Days is comprised of a wide range of private sellers . So chances are that, regardless of how many times and you'll never have the chance to experience it all. canton trade days is set on numerous acres, with more than 700,00 square feet of shopping.
The event on First Monday is free, but the majority of parking lots around the trade grounds charge $5 to park.
