Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a glue trap was ultimately deployed to capture a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.

A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.

A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.

After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.

On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

The city of Raleigh, N.C., is the state capital. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a glue trap ultimately trapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.

As the glue was slowly removed from the cobra's body, it was placed into a red bucket and taken to a safe location.

At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.

After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.

A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved that the ordeal was over.

'I feel very safe now,' she said. Now that I can go outside, I can walk on my deck and go outside. However, I feel bad for the snake.

There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.

Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.

Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.

Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.

The species of cobras that are found in this area do not bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.

According to Locke, this snake is not suitable for keeping as a pet.

Sleeping is the most common time when people are bitten. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.

Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.

There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.

According to county records, Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords name shows several images of snakes that he claims his son Christopher owns.

On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
