Raleigh's north side is home to a deadly zebra cobra found on a glue trap.

Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.

The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so that the glue could be removed completely.

As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.

Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.

Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

In Raleigh, North Carolina. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.

To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.

The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.

Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.

She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

Trying to find a zebra cobra laying on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where one is missing.

The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. A victim's nervous system could shut down if stung with venom.

Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.

An experienced veterinarian, Dr. Salina Locke, treats all kinds of pets at the Avian and Exotic Animal Care.

The species of cobras that are found in this area do not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they are very accurate and attack straight in the eye, according to her.

Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.

Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.

There was a police search of a home near 6917 Chamonix Place where a cobra was last observed on Tuesday afternoon.

Four police officers visited the home in March to investigate an animal problem. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.

There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.

Christopher Gifford has 460000 followers on TikTok. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
