Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.

We guided the cobra into a red bucket and took it to a safe location so that we could fully remove the glue from its body.

At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.

When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.

911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

North Carolina. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.

After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.

The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.

Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

Her neighbor Joan Nelson expressed relief at the end of the ordeal.

She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. After this experience, I feel like I can go outside, walk on the deck, or even go for a jog. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.

Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. As a result of the venom, a victim's nervous system could shut down.

One who is poisoned by the cobra would immediately feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Afterward, a fever and breathing problems would result, possibly resulting in respiratory failure.

Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.

The cobras in this species are not typically biting. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, she said; they are very accurate and aim straight for the eyes.

Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.

Sleeping people are more likely to be bitten. Research indicates people who are bit can suffer health issues for a long time.

Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.

An animal problem led to four police visits in March. In the afternoon, the zebra cobra was spotted on a porch half a mile away.

The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.

Chris Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. His post claims he has a zebra cobra that is 7 feet long.
