North Raleigh venomous zebra cobra hunt is over after glue trap takes care of the problem.

Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.

Cobras in red buckets are guided into a safe location so the glue on their bodies can be removed.

A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.

Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.

As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.

She said she felt safe and really happy. Having gone outside, I feel as though I can now go on my deck and walk around. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

One zebra cobra has gone missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where there is a striped snake on a porch.

A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. Apparently, African Snakebite Institute believes the snake is very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.

Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.

At Avian and Exotic Animal Care, veterinarian Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets.

Cobras typically do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, since their venom hits straight for the eye since they are so accurate.

She is not recommending it for pets, due to its risks.

Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Research indicates people who are bit can suffer health issues for a long time.

It was Tuesday afternoon when police conducted a search of 6917 Chamonix Place, near the street where the snake was last seen.

There was an animal issue at that home in March. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.

The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.

His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. He says he has a 7-foot-long zebra cobra on one of his posts.
