How to Install a Washer and Dryer
Are you moving into a new home? What happened to your washer or dryer? Perhaps you just want an upgrade. The owner's manual may appear simple, but the installation of washers and dryers can be dangerous. As installing appliances involves both water and electrical systems (plus gas, if you add a gas dryer), it's critical to connect everything correctly in order to avoid damaging the washer, dryer, or the home.

Prepare for Washer and Dryer Installation
Make sure you have these tools ready before we begin:
Adjustable wrenches
Bucket
Pliers
Standard level
Towels
Vent brush

In addition, if you're installing the new appliances in a place where there is not currently a washer or dryer, you should consider the following:
Plug a 120-volt outlet into the washer.
In any case, you should be placing the washing machine near your hot water heater, so you can connect it to the outlet and inlet lines for your hot and cold water supplies.
Ensure the machine will fit in your installation space by measuring the length and width.
You should place your washer and dryer on a stable, level surface. Otherwise, the area under the machines may get damaged.

How to Install a Washing Machine
Our washing machine installation process is as follows:

Move the old machine away from the new one after disconnecting it
Empty the old washer drum if it is not full.
Unplug the machine.
Cut off the hot and cold water supply hoses at the shut-off valves.
Get rid of the old machine.
Disconnect the wastewater hose.

Step 2: Attach the hoses to the new machine
You should receive water supply hoses along with all the parts required for an easy installation.
The water supply hoses are screwed into the connections on the back of the machine.
Other ends of the hoses connect to the hot and cold water supply valves.

Step 3: Install the drain hose
A drain hose is attached to the back of the new washer and the water should drain into a nearby sink or standpipe.
Unless the drain hose will drain into a sink, a plastic hose guide should be used to point the hose down into the sink to avoid kinking.
In this case, the drain hose will attach to a standpipe.
Once the drain hose is installed, the technician will turn on the water supply valves to inspect for leaks.


Step 4: Level the washing machine
By doing this, you'll ensure the machine sits flat and won't walk or bang around once it's running.
The washer needs to be leveled.
With the frame locknuts, adjust the legs on the bottom of the machine.
Level the machine with the level in the center, to the right, and to the left to ensure it's perfectly square.

The washing machine needs to be tested. Plug it in now.

How to Install a Dryer
Before you install a new dryer, you will need to ensure a few things. The installation space should already be ready for a successful dryer if you had one before. Start by making sure you have an exhaust vent that works. Vents normally exit through a wall or the roof of a house. Make sure your power source is ready to go.
240-volt outlets must be controlled by circuit breakers of 30 or 50 amps if you have an electric dryer. If your electric dryer outlet does not meet these standards, contact Mr. Electric to upgrade it.
You will need to install a gas line if you have a gas dryer. To install a gas line, you should hire a licensed plumbing professional.

After everything is ready, you can install your new dryer as follows:

Step 1: Clean the dryer vent hose
A clogged dryer vent hose poses a fire hazard, so it is imperative that you clean it out. You can buy a vent brush from most home improvement stores for a very reasonable price.
To remove the vent hood, go outside and clear any debris at the exterior end.

Attach the vent hose to the dryer
It should be easy to place the vent hose over the vent hole on the back of the new machine.
A vent hose is typically made of metal vent duct material. They can sometimes be made of plastic or aluminum which requires clamps.

Attach the vent hose to the wall vent
To connect the vent hose to the wall vent, connect the other end to the vent hose.
It should fit neatly over a metal hose without the need for clamps or tape. However, if you need to clamp a more flexible tube, we recommend using a circular clamp.
Push the dryer into place.

Step 4: Plug it in
Put the dryer in the 240-volt outlet if you have an electric dryer. Licensed electricians can double-check and install one if necessary if you're not sure.
It is advisable to have a licensed plumber assist you with the installation of a gas dryer since gas must be turned on and off again.
