How to Install a Washer and Dryer
Are you moving into a new home? Is your washer or dryer permanently broken? Perhaps you just want an upgrade. Despite simple instructions in washer and dryer owner's manuals, washer and dryer installation may be dangerous. When installing your appliances, you'll need to connect water and electrical systems (and gas, if you're adding a gas dryer). Be sure to connect everything appropriately to protect your washer, dryer, or house.

Prepare for Washer and Dryer Installation
Before we begin, you will need these tools:
Adjustable wrenches
Bucket
Pliers
Standard level
Towels
Vent brush

If you are installing the new appliances in a place without a washer or dryer, it might be a good idea to double-check a few things:
Plug a 120-volt outlet into the washer.
In any case, you should be placing the washing machine near your hot water heater, so you can connect it to the outlet and inlet lines for your hot and cold water supplies.
Measure the width and length of the machine you are installing in order to ensure it will fit comfortably into the installation space.
It is important that washers and dryers are situated on a solid, level surface. A damaged area under the machines can result if this is not done.

How to Install a Washing Machine
Installing a washing machine with Drain Rooter Plumbing is as follows:

The first step is to disconnect and move the old machine out of the way
You should empty the old washer drum.
Unplug the machine.
Disconnect the hot and cold water supply hoses from the shutoff valves.
Get rid of the old machine.
Disconnect the wastewater hose.

Step 2: Attach the hoses to the new machine
A new washer should come with all of the necessary accessories for a successful installation.
The technician will connect the water supply hoses on the back of the machine.
On the other end of the hoses, there will be hot and cold water supply valves.


Step 3: Install the drain hose
There should be a drain hose attached to the back of the new washer and it should drain into a sink or nearby standpipe.
To prevent the drain hose from kinking, there should be a plastic hose guide placed into the sink so the hose can drain correctly.
The drain hose must connect to a standpipe otherwise.
When the drain hose is in place, the technician will open the water supply valves to check for leaks.

Step 4: Level the washing machine
Making sure the machine is level and does not move when it is on is vital.
Make sure the washer is level by placing a level on top.
The machine's bottom legs should be adjusted with the locknuts on the frame.
Place the level in the center, left, and right of the unit to confirm it is perfectly level all the way around.

In order to install a new dryer, you'll need to ensure certain things. The dryer should already be set up for success if it was previously installed in the installation space. You should first ensure you have a reliable exhaust vent. Vents commonly exit through a wall or roof of the house, whichever is nearest to the house. The second step is to make sure your power source is ready.

Follow these steps to install your new dryer once it has been prepared:

Step 1: Clean the dryer vent hose
A clogged dryer vent hose poses a fire hazard, so it is imperative that you clean it out. There is an inexpensive vent brush available at most home improvement stores if you do not have one.
Take apart the vent hood and remove any debris that may have accumulated there as well.

To attach a vent hose to the dryer, follow steps 2 and 3.
The vent hose should fit easily over the hole in the back of the new machine.
A vent hose is made most commonly from metal vent duct material. The ribs may be made of plastic or aluminum and may require clamps.

Attach the wall vent hose to the vent
The other end of the vent hose should be connected to the wall vent.
In the case of metal hoses, clamps and tape are not necessary. You should use a circular clamp if the tube is more flexible.
Push the dryer into place.

Step 4: Plug it in
Plug your electric dryer into the 240-volt outlet if you already have it. Licensed electricians can verify your installation and install it, if necessary.
