One glue trap ends days of searching for venomous zebra cobras in north Raleigh.

Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.

The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.

An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.

After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.

Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.

Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.

Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.

After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.

A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

A neighbor, Joan Nelson, said she is relieved the ordeal is over.

It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.

The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. African Snakebite Institute has described the snake as very dangerous. A victim's nervous system could be shut down by the venom.

An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.

An enthusiastic veterinarian, Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care.

Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.

The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.

Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.

In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.

There was an animal issue at that home in March. They returned on Monday and Tuesday after the zebra cobra was discovered on a porch about a half mile away.

The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. An account linked to Keith Gifford's name features several photos of snakes belonging to his son, Christopher.

Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
