The venomous zebra cobra found in north Raleigh is trapped by a glue trap.

Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, law enforcement and animal control officers trapped the venomous snake on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

Cobras in red buckets are guided into a safe location so the glue on their bodies can be removed.

As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.

Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

In Raleigh, North Carolina. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an event that garnered attention throughout the state.

Glue was removed from the cobra's body by placing it in a red bucket and moving it to a safe location.

As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

Neighbor Joan Nelson said the ordeal was over.

It makes me feel much safer, she said. Having gone outside, I feel as though I can now go on my deck and walk around. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.

A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.

Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. A victim's nervous system could be shut down by the venom.

One would feel immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting and diarrhea if stung by a cobra's poison. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.

An experienced veterinarian, Dr. Salina Locke, treats all kinds of pets at the Avian and Exotic Animal Care.

Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.

A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.

Sleeping is when most bites occur. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.

It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.

There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. They returned on Monday and Tuesday after the zebra cobra was discovered on a porch about a half mile away.

The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords name shows several images of snakes that he claims his son Christopher owns.

Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
