North Raleigh venomous zebra cobra hunt is over after glue trap takes care of the problem.

Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so that the glue could be removed completely.

An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.

Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.

A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Despite hours of preparation by animal control and law enforcement officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.

As soon as the cobra was guided into the red bucket, it was moved to a safe location where the glue could be fully removed.

A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.

Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.

She says she feels safe and happy now. Getting outside on my deck or stepping out on my deck gives me a sense of freedom. Despite this, I feel sorry for the snake.

A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.

Even a morning walk with your dog becomes dangerous due to the snake's ability to spit up to nine feet and be as fast as a zebra cobra. The African Snakebite Institute cites the snake as extremely dangerous. As a result of the venom, a victim's nervous system could shut down.

An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. The symptoms would be a heavy fever and breathing problems that could lead to respiratory failure.

Salina Locke is an experienced veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, where she treats all types of pets.

Cobras typically do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.

Due to the risks, Locke does not recommend this snake as a pet.

Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Bite victims could be plagued with health problems for years, studies show.

There was a police search of a home near 6917 Chamonix Place where a cobra was last observed on Tuesday afternoon.

In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. They returned on Monday and Tuesday after the zebra cobra was discovered on a porch about a half mile away.

The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.

TikTok user Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
