Main Differences Between Salt Table Salt and Sea Salt
Sea salt is marine salt which is formed by the evaporation process of seawater containing minerals. It's commonly used for cooking, seasoning, cosmetics and even for preserving edible food. It's also known as black salt or solar salt. Like most mined minerals, production of sea salt is dated back to prehistoric times. Today, the art of extracting minerals from sea water is done with a chemical process, rather than an evaporative one.

Salt is a mineral which contains trace amounts of magnesium and other elements. truffle salt are extremely important to our bodies because these are needed for many functions. Because our diets tend to be low in magnesium these days, we need to supplement our diets with these trace amounts in salt. Without them our bodies won't get the necessary minerals it needs. In addition, these trace amounts are found in some of our most delicious foods: sea salt, cream of tomato soup, butter, mayonnaise, etc. So it's no surprise that they make such a difference in taste and flavor.

Salt has a number of different types, each with their own unique properties. They can help to improve your health and prevent certain diseases, but in large quantities can actually be quite harmful. The type of salt you choose to cook with depends on where you are eating, what your diet is and what type of lifestyle you lead.

As with everything in life, there are pros and cons of every mineral in salt. The "saltiest" salt is seawater which contains very little magnesium and contains trace amounts of sodium, potassium and chloride. The most beneficial type of salt for your body type is the "ultra-salt", harvested from salt mines deep in the sea which contain high amounts of sodium, potassium and chloride.

Ocean-sourced salts have the highest mineral content and therefore should be eaten in the most appropriate portions. They tend to have a smooth texture and come in many different varieties, from the more common smooth black salt to the more rare crystal salt. Some varieties have a very strong odor - often described as fishy or musky - which is sometimes associated with fresh fish.

Most harvested sea salt used in cooking today comes from the Eastern Mediterranean and is harvested by channeling the water over a sand filter which catches only the sodium and potassium contained within the crystals. This allows salt to retain its mineral properties and taste. This type of salt is the saltiest and tends to have a salty taste in cooking. This is often preferred over other salts as it gives food a better taste and texture. However, it is also the most expensive salt available and is prone to becoming contaminated.

Concentrated salt is created by electrolysis and uses sodium chloride to separate the sodium and potassium from the minerals present in rock salt and seawater. It can take on a metallic taste when cooked, although it maintains its salty flavor when raw. Due to the higher concentration of minerals, this salt is also considered very fine grained and can be used in cooking to add flavor without adding salt.

As you can see from the main differences above, there are a wide range of products that fall into the category of table salt. This variety can be overwhelming for the individual who is unsure of which type to purchase. It's important to take your time in deciding what to use in your recipes and how much salt is needed to achieve your desired taste. Understanding the main differences will help you to make an informed decision about what is best for you. To help you choose, take the time to compare products and educate yourself about the main differences between sea salt and table salt.
