1)Growing population of stray cats and dogs is a huge public health concern in society. A stray dog or stray cat are once family pets but thrown out into the streets when their former owner can no longer sustain their living and afford to feed their animals or when their owners neglect them because they have someone who is younger and can be beneficial to them and they give up taking care of their needs. Everyday, we pass them by on the streets,highways, etc. They dodge speeding cars so they can survive and they also look for food in the garbage. They are also having battles to fight for their lives but they are keeping it silent since they can't even speak like us humans do. Perhaps we can even compare their life with every person who lives on the streets and there is always a hidden story behind them. Dogs and Cats can't even vote/participate in the election, especially they can't speak unless they are also human like us, and their "rights" as a living organism not most of the human being recognize it but animals also have feelings. Most Filipinos want to have breed dogs rather than those called askal because they found it adorable but they didn't even know that they are also hurting their dogs feelings. Why is their population on the street growing? It's a result of being unwanted animals from their owner, they are roaming freely in the streets and they are dumped and throwed in the road.

People mostly call for help from the PAWS to turn over their animals,but there is no “agency” that will take in unwanted animals except to put them on the City Pound. The animals are then put to sleep or euthanized if they are not claimed by anyone who is interested in adopting them.

When most of us humans bring our pet to dog pounds, they are sentencing the animals to death. What's worse is that there are many of the city pounds who use an inhumane method of putting animals down.

2) My knowledge that i can contribute to solve these problems is that as a responsible pet owner i make my animals spay or neuter so that i can help to prevent overpopulation of stray cats and dogs. I ask a friends of mine that has connection on some dog pounds and each month, an average city pound here in the Philippines puts down 200 unclaimed dogs. And some of the owners threw away the offspring of their animals because they couldn't afford to feed them all because they have a lot of animals. That's why every little effort that we did take to spay a pet or a stray can help to prevent the birth of unwanted offspring and we are able to save lives. One of the benefits of neutering your animals: spayed or neutered pets live longer, healthier lives; and they are less likely to develop some forms of reproductive cancers; and less likely to pick fights with other animals and less likely they will stay outside looking for their soulmates on the streets. As a dog lover and a social media influencer, I will use my platform to spread awareness about such laws within our community - and also refer to some legal advice set by courts in the Philippines when in doubt. Just like us humans, dogs have rights too and that includes the stray cat and dog population. If we happen to come across a animal cruelty or abused, we should not be deaf. Educate those people who abused dogs/cats and tell them that it is punishable by law to harm or relocate stray dogs and cats forcefully.

While in my Skills that I can contribute to solve these problems is that I can easily tame the animals. We humans should have this kind of ability to communicate with our pets and ensure that their needs are given to them most of the time.

Lastly, in my Attitude that I can contribute to solving these problems is compassion for animals; I felt sad and pity those animals who are abandoned and have no house to stay. Instead of buying breed dogs in a pet store why not just adopt… Giving; When I am selling my products outside my home, I never forget to go to a nearby pet shop and buy food to feed on stray cats and dogs. Appreciation; even though they are just walking freely on the streets, and some people find them noisy but still they have a contribution to our nature and to all of us and don't forget that they are man's best friend and stress reliever.

In my previous reflection's i learned about the dynamics of oral communication; first, the content or the message of my essay has to be relevant to the topic that was given and stick to it. Second, I understand the pro's and con's is a good starting point to have better communication. Third, I have to be confident in delivering my speech. Fourth, audience awareness I should be observant of their body language because it would serve as my instant feedback from them. Lastly, audience engagement is very important. Like I will ask questions, making eye contact so they won't find it boring and I am able to capture their attention.

I also learned about the principles of effective communication and by doing it; I am able to stay clear on my speech,concise,concrete,correct,coherent,complete and courteous. I learn that language is connected with the culture I grew up with and as a millennial I get used to it using slang language, conyo,etc. I learned that dogs are a stress reliever and everytime they do unexpected things I just laugh at them. Haha, I look crazy but laughter is beneficial to me. Lastly, I was able to take care more about my well being.
