First Monday Trade Days may be a popular event in East Texas, but that doesn't stop hundreds of thousands of visitors from visiting in the Canton area Canton for four days each month. Open from the Thursday to Sunday ahead of the First Tuesday of each month, hundreds of vendors set up shop with hundreds of opportunities for shopping.
The park that began over a century ago as flea markets has now become one of the most cutting-edge, innovative furniture, antiques and collectibles that can be seen anywhere. Over the past 150 years, a lot of things have changed in this Original First Monday Park; but the real, home-style friendships between vendors shoppers are the reason people are always returning.

According to site of First Monday Trade Days website It is one of the oldest and largest continuously operating outdoor fleamarket anywhere in the United States.
According to people from on the street, the idea was born. First Monday Trade Days started in the early 1850's, when the circuit judge was able to make a trip to Canton on the First Monday of each month. Residents from all over the county would come to the city for court dealings. In the course of time, residents would bring their own items, whether it was livestock, produce and other pieces from their past, to sell or trade. Then in canton first monday outgrew the city's Town Square so it was moved to its present premises. And the rest is history...
First Monday Trade Days is made up of a variety of private sellers . As such, chances are, regardless of how many times you visit you'll never be able to see everything. The flea market is set on numerous acres, with more than 700,00 square feet of space for shopping.
The event on First Monday is free, however, the majority of parking areas surrounding the trade fairs charge $5 for parking
