In chemistry, a salt mineral is any ionic compound containing positive cations and anions bonded together. Most common salt mineral is sodium chloride (usually known as table salt). Mixtures of salt in solution are also known as electrolytes. In physiology, salt (salt mineral) has many important functions.
Salt has been used for medical treatment since ancient times. Medical records from ancient civilizations, including those of Egypt, indicate the effectiveness of salt for the treatment of many diseases. Because of its wide range of benefits, trace amounts of salt can be found almost everywhere in the world, from the comforts of your own home to the back of your grocery store. This wealth of beneficial minerals is just a small sample of the reasons why people have discovered salt's healing properties.
Salt is beneficial to the heart, specifically because it lowers blood pressure. Research has shown that low sodium diets can reduce blood pressure and help prevent hypertension and other cardiac problems. Blood pressure can cause strokes, high blood pressure and even heart attacks. By lowering blood pressure, sodium reduction also helps to prevent other diseases. sea salt of blood pressure-lowering effects and the lack of processed foods in most diets have led to the worldwide reduction of salt intake.
https://twitter.com/saltsworldwide/ believe that high blood pressure can be related to excessive salt intake. A high blood pressure patient should cut his or her salt intake in half or even take no salt at all if diagnosed with high blood pressure. Reducing salt intake has proven to be very effective in reducing blood pressure, even hypertension.
Salt contains trace amounts of magnesium and potassium. Potassium is needed to dissolve and transport water. Potassium is missing from our diets in our modern society. The average person consumes about two hundred to three hundred milligrams of potassium per day, far less than the typical two thousand milligrams a day that is required by the body. Researchers believe that magnesium is lost from the body in the urine and that the excessive sodium reduces magnesium levels. Salt also contains trace amounts of magnesium, phosphorus, iodine and calcium.
Trace amounts of these minerals are important for maintaining proper fluid levels in the body and controlling cardiovascular disease. Salt restriction has been shown to be correlated with lower incidences of heart disease and stroke. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association revealed that the average increasing intake of salt has been related to the rising incidence of stroke in the U.S. The reduction of sodium intake is correlated with a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease.
It has also been discovered that excessive sodium is related to an increased risk of osteoporosis, a weakening of the bones. The excess salt consumption weakens the walls of the arteries, permitting more mineral deposit to build up and make the bones more brittle and less resistant to fractures. High sodium diets result in hypertension, another condition that weakens the walls of the arteries and increases the risk of coronary artery disease. When salt builds up in the arteries it affects the kidneys and causes them to function less efficiently. High blood pressure is associated with a variety of diseases, including coronary artery disease and kidney failure.
Summary salt has been found to contain no trace amounts of the essential minerals that we need on a daily basis. Most of the trace minerals found in seawater have already been depleted by the immense amount of sodium that humans consume on a daily basis. Americans consume far too much salt, and they are not getting enough minerals in their diet.
