Cooking Tips: How to Choose a New Cooktop
There are practically nothing but electric cooktops on the market, save for the induction ones. Most of these induction cooktops are ceramic-glass. These cooktops turn the electric current which comes from your wall outlets into energy through electromagnetic induction. This energy is transformed into thermal energy, which is then radiated throughout the entire ceramic pan.

Electrical cooktops use electricity to heat the surface of the cooktop. Because of this, electric cooktops use more energy than do their gas-powered counterparts. Electric cooktops are a great alternative when you're considering an upgrade. The main advantage of an electric stove is that it uses no fuel at all. You don't have to worry about running out of electricity during a cooking session.

Another benefit of an electric cooker is that it utilizes one or two electromagnetic induction cycles, which give off infrared or radiant heat. This type of cooktop has a thin transparent laminated glass surface with metallic reflectors and ionic waves. The heat source is usually either an electric bulb or a light bulb. The ceramic glass surface glows red hot when it is hot enough and contracts quickly when it is cold enough. Cooktops with this technology are very efficient.

An induction cooktop is made up of ceramic, metal or glass surfaces. The inner surface is made up of a coil of copper or stainless steel which picks up heat from the cooking surface and transfers it into the oven or stove. Induction cooktops may also include a fan which circulates air under the heating element. These types of cooktops use an electro-magnetic wave to cook.

Flame Retardant Gas Cooktops: They are becoming more popular in modern kitchens because they can help to prevent food from burning. Some gas cooktops heat by means of flames, others burn electrical energy through a small hole in the middle of the burner. Many households now have these types of kitchen appliances. They are generally available as either electric cooktops, gas cooktops or convection ovens.

Ceramic-glass, aluminum and stainless steel cookware can be found in many home improvement stores. They are more affordable than their metal counterparts but some brands of copper, stainless steel and even tin can be found for less than half the price. Ceramic cookware heats up slowly and evenly and is more forgiving of minor burns or crushes.

Glass-ceramic surface: A newer type of cooktop that is becoming increasingly popular is the glass-ceramic surface. This type of cooktop has a smooth surface and is extremely durable. It is also safe for those with high levels of fire hazard, since it is not prone to catching on fire. However, there is a downside. Due to its smooth surface, this type of cooktop does require lots of maintenance and it is susceptible to burns.

Induction cooktops: The newest type of cooktops to hit the market are induction cooktops. gas cooktops with downdraft These new innovative cooktops utilize an induction heating system that circulates heat through heated metallic coils. These coils evenly distribute heat through the cooktop creating an even cooking surface and a safer method of cooking due to the reduced surface area exposed to flames, sparks and smoke.

As compared to other cooktops, induction cooktops are very affordable. Their main disadvantage is that induction cooktops can only be used with electric stoves. Cooktops using natural gas are inconvenient since they need to be refueled and the installation process can be very expensive. On the plus side, induction cooktops consume lesser amounts of energy and do not produce harmful emissions. They also last longer than traditional gas and electric cooktops.

There are some cons associated with induction cooktops. For instance, induction cooktops heat slowly. Since it takes longer for food to be cooked, most people consider this a negative point. Also, these cooktops consume more electricity than most other cooktops. If you're working in a restaurant where most of your meals are ready by 6pm, then you may not be able to count on your induction cooktop to keep your food warm.

One of the advantages of the induction cooktops is that they come with temperature control. The heat control allows you to set the exact temperature that you want for your food. Unlike with the traditional gas and electric ovens, you can control the temperature to make sure that you don't burn your food. Although this feature may seem advantageous, you should note that this feature also makes cooking difficult, if not impossible, because you cannot adjust the temperature to fit the recipe.

However, gas and electric cooktops are not the only options that you have when it comes to cooking. You can also choose from convection and induction cooktops. Convection cooktops are less expensive compared to the two other types. In addition, you can also enjoy a healthier meal because the food is cooked at a slower temperature. Induction cooktops are considered to be the best in terms of efficiency and in controlling the temperature. In this sense, they are most often used in small kitchens where space is limited.
