As with everything in poker, observe the betting habits of your opponents. Within a game, if a player starts betting high and then starts checking or betting Less aggressively, the band he was hoping for might not have materialized.

When you come across these sort of players, the correct way to play is to value bet your strong hands as much as possible. Even if you're holding a mediocre pair, I'd suggest betting strongly (as long as the flop doesn't look dangerous) on each street if necessary. Have confidence in your hand, and don't feel yourself being put off by players who are continually calling you. It's perfectly normal at this level of the game.

Most people try to get far too clever when they're betting. They'll try and figure out if the opponent has a weak hand so they can bluff. Or they'll check in hopes that their opponent will bet so they can check raise.

One of the main problems I used to have with c-bets was that I used them every single time I raised before the flop. It was just what I believed - what kind of whimp would make a raise before the flop and then check? It just didn't seem right to make a preflop raise without a continuation bet.
