It stands for “Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review” where the user has to step 1 Skim the text for headings, pictures, etc. to find a framework or structure in how the text is written.​ 2. Before reading, write down questions about what they found while skimming.​ 3, this is While reading, answer the questions, this will keep the reader's focus.​ 4. Recite answers to initial questions while reading to help conceptualize the content in the text​ finally When done reading review content by repeating main ideas using own words, this could be written down

The reason this is effective when reading is that it increases readers understanding of a text by keeping them engaged, so they wont reread a passage later due to not understanding it at first. People should use this technique if they are bad at paying attention when reading or want to be more time-efficient since it keeps them focused and gives them a better understanding faster. The thing about the technique that is most helpful is the fact that a reader who is typically bad at reading or disinterested will find it easier to understand and enjoy a text they read usually leading to saved time and improved test results. According to a study made by Yuni Rahmah Indahyati in 2008 study, the strategy could improve a student's achievement in reading comprehension, some of the results showed an increase of students scoring higher on a test after using the method, showing that it is effective for a good percentage of people.​
