I waited for Arnold while rereading his book and trying to use his strategies myself in online tournaments. The short of it was - it wasn't working for me. So I reverted back to my own mzone based tournament strategy and began winning again.
For Omaha Hi or Omaha Hi Lo players should always get two hands from their four hand card never use just one or all four always choose that could possibly form the combination of High or Low. Never depend on the five faced-up cards for a good hand, always start on the hand that one already has.
Another betting strategy in an online poker tournament is to stop the chasers by putting the pot odds against them. Lets say you have AK and the flop comes AK9 and two are suited. Now you will need to bet an amount that will deny your opponent 3 to 1 odds in order to chase his flush which is the likely chasing hand here or maybe a open end straight draw. So lets say you bet making the pot odds 2 to 1 and he chases it. Sometimes visit here will have to fold because he will hit but he will only hit 4 out of 1 times or so. Therefore this play will show a profit for you if he continues to chase and you should eventually come out ahead.
poker betting strategy One note of caution however. If and when people do call your "opener" raise you can put them on a long suit hand. Or at least you'll know ipso facto they are an aggressive player and you need to proceed with caution.
Master the basics. There is so much to be said in life if you just master the basics. Stop trying to get fancy and fabulous straight up. Perfect your pre-flop game, perfect your betting strategy, perfect calculating odds, master reading players, master putting and opponent on a hand.
Check Raise: This is also known as trapping. The check raise works by acting weak in hopes of hiding your strength. With any luck, this will encourage a bluff or at least a misinformed bet from your opponent to get him to put his chips to the pot.
They will frequently do this with lesser quality hands than they would normally play. To be successful, you will need to recognize when someone is just trying to shut you down and when they actually have a quality hand. This style is not easy but it is very effective when played correctly.
