Check Raise: This is also known as trapping. The check raise works by acting weak in hopes of hiding your strength. With any luck, this will encourage a bluff or at least a misinformed bet from your opponent to get him to put his chips to the pot.
Most people try to get far too clever when they're betting. They'll try and figure out if the opponent has a weak hand so they can bluff. Or they'll check in hopes that their opponent will bet so they can check raise.
Has this person always had a big stack (indicating a good player)? Are they short (indicating a bad player)? Are they tall because of a recent lucky win or have they built it over time? Are they short because of a recent bad beat or have they been losing constantly?
As with visit here in poker, observe the betting habits of your opponents. Within a game, if a player starts betting high and then starts checking or betting Less aggressively, the band he was hoping for might not have materialized.

You should play LAG! People are more likely to fold hands they would otherwise play because they are afraid of being eliminated without getting paid. Picking up chips now will help you later.
