-Epilepsilerin tanı ve takibinde, En sık gerekçe epilepsi (bayılma,havale ) tanısı için
-Şuur kaybı, baygınlık gibi durumlarda epilepsi olup olmadığı tanısında
-Yaşa uygun beynin elektriksel olgunlaşmasının değerlendirilmesi
-Beynin iltihabi hastalıkları (ensefalit)
-Bazı uyku ve davranış bozukluklarında,
-Bir çok sinir hastalıklarında,
-Baş ağrılarının nedenlerinin araştırılmasında,
-Beyin fonksiyonlarının değerlendirilmesinde,
-Yoğun bakımda yatan hastaların yaşam fonksiyonlarının takibinde…
-Organ nakillerinden önce beyin ölümü tanısı için de
kaliteli bir eeg sonucu alabilmek için, gözler kapalı, hasta sakin, bir nevi dinlenim konumunda olmaklı
EEG değerlendirilirken, hastanın yaşo, ilaç alıp almadığı, uyku durumu önemlidir.
Çekim esnasında,
- 10sn arayla 5-7 defa göz açıp kapama
- 3-5dk süren hiperventilasyon ( derin nefes alıp verme)
- 5-7dk süren fotik stimülasyon ( ışıklı uyarı ) gibi aktivasyon yöntemleri uygulanır.
Çocuklarda tepki ve kooperasyon eksikliği olabilir. Böyle durumlarda hasta uyanıkken EEG çekilir.
Çocukları hemen uyutmak verilen anestezikler beyin aktivitelerini etkileyebileceğinden kullanılmamalıdır.
