nusret mayın gemisi
1.dünya savaşı başladığında cephede görev almasına
kesin gözüyle bakılan bir askerdi.
öyle de oldu; 29 kasım 1914 tarihinde çanakkale
müstahkem mevkii komutanlığı görevine atandı.
yzb hakkı bey ve yzb nazmi bey'e tarihi değiştirecek bir emir verdi.
8 mart 1915 sabahı, yzb. hakkı bey komutasındaki ışıkları
karartılmış nusret mayın gemisi, karanlık liman'a
elimizde kalan son 26 mayını kıyıya paralel olarak döşedi.
bu mayınlar tamamen türk yapımıydı.
boğaz alman yapımı 377 mayın ile korunmaktaydı.
alman teknisyenler türk yapımı mayınları yetersiz
bulmuşlar, kullanılmasına izin vermemişlerdi.
fakat kahramanımız, imkansızlıklar içinde hazırlanan o
son 26 mayına güvenmiş, milletin kaderini değiştirecek
emri vermişti.
18 mart 1915 sabahı çanakkale'ye saldıran birleşik
armada'ya bağlı donanma gemileri, hiç beklemedikleri bir
sürpriz ile karşılaştılar.
irresistible(irresistibıl) ve ocean zırhlıları, nusret'in sabaha karşı
döktüğü mayınlara çarparak boğazın derin sularına
gömüldü.
18 zırhlıdan oluşan itilaf donanmasında 3 zırhlı battı,
3 zırhlı savaşamayacak duruma geldi.
sayısı belirsiz mayın tarama gemisi ve destroyer batırıldı.
ikibin'e yakın zaiyat verdirildi. çanakkale denizden geçilemedi.
44 şehit verildi.
tüm merkez bataryaları bir ay içinde tekrar savaşabilecek durumdaydı
