รศ.นพ.วสุวัฒน์ กิติสมประยูรกุล ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟู คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯกล่าวถึงอาการของโรคหลอดเลือดสมองว่า “อาการที่ที่บ่อยที่สุดคืออ่อนแรงแขนขาครึ่งซีกหรือที่เรียกว่า อัมพฤกษ์ อัมพาต อาการอื่นๆ ที่พบได้ เช่น ชาครึ่งซีก ปากเบี้ยว เดินเซ พูดไม่ชัด กลืนลำบาก เป็นต้น”
