Massage Therapy - Biomechanical Stimulation
Massage is usually described as an therapist who gently works on knots in your body. Keep in mind that massage is an all-encompassing experience. It involves all parts of our body, including muscles, joints and the tendons. Massage can cause mechanical tension that is designed to increase the flexibility of muscles, resulting in a wider flexibility, reduced static flexibility and increased active flexibility (biomechanical theories). Massage can help decrease soreness and boost blood flow to the areas affected by the body.

Although there are many ways to define massage, the primary usage of the word is in combination with physical therapy and bodywork. The biochemical and cellular exchange are affected by the tension caused by the massage strokes. There are three primary types of massages - deep tissue, an auto-vibration technique or vibration and a compression type. Deep tissue massage is focused on the superficial layer of tissues that are close to the surface of the skin. When auto-vibration and vibration techniques draw deep tissue the massage is focused on the surface layers.

Although therapeutic massage therapy can be beneficial in the management of chronic pain, it is not able to solve the root of the problem. Research has proven this. Therapeutic massage has been used for many years to treat a variety of conditions from sore joints to depression and cancer. The Chinese have been treating discomfort for hundreds of years. China is where the concept of pain came from. Chinese medicine and Acupuncture both employ massage therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy. There has been some recent evidence to suggest that acupuncture may be beneficial for some forms of chronic pain.

Massage techniques alter the electrical signals that are sent to the body, which causes tissues or muscles to stiffen or lengthier. This helps to ease tension and offer a relaxation feeling. Aromatherapy involves applying scented oils to certain regions of the body that are known to relax muscles and/or promote relaxation. Massage techniques may produce the same results and could be preferred to aromatherapy when you don't have much cash to invest in spa treatments.

The same principles as therapeutic massage can be used to perform compression massage. This technique elongates the muscles through compression. The compression of the muscles release endorphins, the body's "happy" hormones. This is a proven technique to lessen pain and enhance your capacity to handle stress. Some evidence suggests that this method could help reduce the duration and severity of some injuries.

Another use for the benefits of massage can be found in the treatment of sports injuries particularly during a warm up or cool down session. Warm up sessions are intended to relax the muscles, boost blood flow and stretch the muscles. The goal of a cool-down session is to reduce the effects stretching and restore the length of the muscle. Both have the same positive effect.

Bio mechanical stimulation massage is an emerging fashion in the world of sports. The method utilizes electric and mechanical pressures to contract muscles. Biomechanical stimulation is founded on the idea that the body operates by utilizing bio-mechanical systems that are natural to the body. This is the result of how the body works and how tissue tissues react to signals from the nervous system (and the brain). The brain gets signals from the nerves whenever certain parts of the body are tense.

A further application of the benefits of massage therapy can be seen in the relief of discomfort. It is typically observed in professional sports, where athletes undergo special massage therapy that helps to ease the pain and inflammation. In other instances, it's seen in massage chair therapy where patients might want to decrease inflammation in the spine in order to treat a herniated disc or other back discomfort.
