Mental Reasons for Gambling
It is possible to view gambling as the second-oldest profession that has been cultivated by mankind. Aside from the basic instincts that guided the apes to their evolutionary The one factor that was what made Homo sapiens distinguish themselves in the struggle for survival was their inherent desire to take chances and be a champion in their community. This attraction towards unknown and the outcomes of things beyond the control of physical and mental prowess created the foundations of our science, religion mythology, theology, and the majority of the knowledge that went on to become characteristic of our species. After all weren't Adam and Eve gambling with destiny and the commandments of the Lord when they took the bit of the forbidden fruit? Behold! It's incredible how their bet paid off...

Our brains are programmed to be drawn to the game of chance. It can be attributed to our ancestors in the past who were always fighting for their lives. This was the main reason to their survival and that of their race. We live in the 21st century. The world of gambling is now multi-billion dollar. It is thriving on the enthusiasm and fervor of gamblers today who are always "nearly" reaching the jackpot. What is it that draws a tough-minded businessman or an executive with a fancy degree; a testimony to the shrewdness and logic that has guided them through all aspects of their lives, to blow away their hard earned money in a single night in a notorious casino, makes for an interesting research project that sheds some light on the motives and desires of a mind which is constantly on the edge.

The first thing to do is be aware that gamblers of all kinds are not a part of the stereotype images that other non-gamblers are able to imagine of them. We're referring to stereotypes at the opposite end of this spectrum. One is a sophisticated, elegant, and feminine man who is knowledgeable about wine and has three tricks on his sleeves. The image is further emphasized by James Bond-like characters that make gambling glamorous and glamorous. On the other end exists the less fortunate cousin of this good-looking-devil. He's a social rot poor, addicted to drugs, theft and fighting to enjoy the thrill of gambling. He has gotten so addicted that his life is in danger and he's a danger to his family and friends. The real life gambler lies in the middle of this spectrum.

The gambling community can be classified into three groups, each having their particular motivations and motives. They include:

1) Casual Gamblers, also known as low risk gambling:

It is a class of people who view betting for what it is, a pastime. They would like to play a game of poker at special occasions, place bets on horses as part of a social event and bet with their cousins who are equally passionate about the outcomes of the Euro Cup. Gambling is for find out more of the many skills that are necessary to establish that they are persons of the world. Because their social circle requires this or they get thrills from it, they engage in gambling. The most important aspect is that they never play with the surplus they are having and know when to determine when to get up and get on with life.

2.) 2) Habitual Gamblers or Problem Gamblers:

This is a group of gamblers who have transformed from a simple temporary pastime into a serious business. They have a hard time breaking the habit of gambling due to their addiction. Problem gamblers are those who gamble on a regular basis.

3.) Pathological Gamblers:

This is the class that is most likely comprised of individuals who make up the second stereotype mentioned above. Psychologically, site link is a compulsive behavior that cannot resist overwhelming or unreasonable desires. Gamblers who suffer from pathological addictions are irrationally drawn to gambling but lack the capacity to judge when it is appropriate to stop. Similar to a drug addict gambling becomes the mainstay of their lives and overrules any ethical, moral, economic or social argument against it. Many of them also have other behavior disorders afflicting their personality - a situation termed as Co-morbidity. They require support in order to come out of their routine.

This is the category for gamblers and their reasons. Let's now see how these people move through each stage. What triggers an individual into the world of gambling? Our ancestors knew that taking risks was a massive risk they couldn't afford. In the current climate it's obvious that going into dark forests to search for a wild animal was a risky venture. It was their lifestyle. So slowly but surely the ability to gamble has been boiled down in every one of us. An inexperienced gambler might not fully comprehend the risks and rewards of gambling, but it is normal for them to continue. When you add the glamour and high-life associated with the profession it's an Herculean task to resist the bait. These games are typically designed in such a format where the gambler believes that his skill is improving and he is closer then ever to winning. If not checked, this will eventually turn into a habit and then becomes an addiction. Basically gambling plays on two universal emotions the desire to be a millionaire without actually slogging to win it and the dread of letting go of the dream, no matter the stakes.
