A Rummy is a game where the player matches identical cards into pairs or groups. Experts believe Mahjong, the Chinese game of Mahjong, is part Rummy. But, I'd bet the Chinese love Mahjong just as it is.

Some people feel the opening is reckless as most people who do it will be lying and thus easy to understand. The "opener" helter-skelter when the first person to act raises the big blind. This type bet is most often placed because you want all the lady-killers to go away and people to cheer for a cheap flop. It can also be used to steal the indecisives, or get everyone to fold.

Players are always amazed when a high pair of pocket cards is beaten. However, as you can see, they are easy to beat if they don't improve on the flop.
