Online video storage is unpredictable. Sites could close or disappear. Here are some suggestions to backup your social media presence to your laptop.

I now copy the same file multiple times and make it accessible wherever internet access is available. This was Periscope. It was something I used quite often a number of years ago. I am into politics and underground movements, so I often film live events, then save them for future use, publish some on my YouTube channel and when the live stream is over, I back it up into my laptop. This is how I do it. This lets me cross-posting videos across various platforms. Not only can I share Youtube videos on Facebook, but I can also upload that video directly to Facebook. It's a separate video. Over the last 8 years, I have 3TB worth of live streams. Periscope Lives will not go out of fashion.. It helps me greatly.


It works flawlessly. You can play the video you wish to download on Periscope, Youtube, or Facebook. Copy the URL by using the share link. I then navigate to the site for video downloaders, paste the video link there, and in a matter of seconds I'll be presented with a range of options to download video. I can download it to my desktop or laptop, transfer it to other platforms, and save it for my family and friends ones. Periscope isn't available on every site.

If you're not familiar with this, Windows can utilize the copy command to assist you join these fragments to make a standard 1 long video file. This is due to the format used by video to create the fragments: MpegTS, which is also known as a transport stream. It includes all the data needed for video decoding in each of the fragments, making them independent from the stream so that each new user can begin streaming in a seamless manner. The current 25 second stretch gets 3-4 fragments. This greatly reduces the total downloads needed to watch 25sec from the middle of the stream.
