I learned that sir Banlasan was once a diety before becoming a goddess. But, kidding aside, what I learned from the recent discussions in literature were the history of literature or more specifically, where the world literature began. So the first dated literature came from the Ancient Greeks which dated back from 800BC-400BC. Then came the Anglo-Saxon or also called as Old English period which started in 450CE and ended in 1066CE. Then it transitioned to the Middle English Literature which dated back from 1066CE-1500CE. After that, came the Renaissance period which started right after the Middle English period and ended in 1660CE. After the Renaissance period ended, the Neoclassism was adopted but it ended in 1785CE. After that, the Puritan Literature or Puritan Plain Style took over in the United States from 1650CE-1730CE. Then came The Age of Reason in the United States which dated back from 1730CE-1800CE. Romanticism also started right then from 1785CE to 1830CE. After that, came the Victorian Period which dated back from 1830CE-1900CE. Then the philosophy, Transcendentalism also began amidst the Victorian Period in 1835CE but shortly ended in 1860CE. American Realism & Regionalism also began amidst it which dated back from 1855-1900. As well as Naturalism in the United States which dated back from 1890-1910. After the Victorian Period came Modernism which dated back in 1900-1940. After that, started Magic Realism which began in the 1930's and is present up till now. The Postcolonial Literature which began in the 1950's and Metafiction which started in the 1960's - both of which are also still present up till now. Other than the timeline of World Literature, I also learned about the Greek gods and goddesses such as the 12 well-known Greek gods like Zeus, Aphrodite, Athena, Hades, Poseidon, Artemis, Apollo, Hestia, Hera, Apollo, Demeter, Hermes, Dionysus, and Hephaistos. Besides them were other minor gods and god-like beings.
