There is a shift in the general attitude towards gender differentiation and dress sense in modern clothing. The general belief is that dresses should be worn in order to create an image or fashion statement. But with the rise of informal clothing like casual dresses, jeans and skirts in particular, one can wear clothes casually and stylishly. Gender distinction in clothing styles is becoming blurred.


Wearing a skirt to work could be seen as prestigious whereas wearing a t-shirt and jeans to school may not. However, formal and casual clothing may not be equally popular amongst all sections of society. Some may choose to wear more formal attire to work whereas others may choose casuals for home use.
