Kepala Suku Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Kelautan dan Pertanian Kota Administrasi Jakarta Utara Unang Rustanto mengatakan melon tersebut dibagikan untuk pengurus BPP dan dijual ke masyarakat. Masing-masing melon juga diperkirakan memiliki berat 2 kg.

Unang menceritakan pada percobaan pertama sempat gagal karena faktor cuaca. Pernyataan tersebut juga diakui oleh Pengelola BPP Sukapura, Teguh Wiyono. Pihaknya menyampaikan kendala cuaca pada percobaan pertama karena ditanam pada musim hujan.
"Pada percobaan kedua kita coba tanam lagi di cuaca yang cukup panas, Alhamdulillah hasilnya bagus," tuturnya.
Melon tersebut, kata Teguh, rencananya akan dijual seharga Rp13 ribu per kg.
"Dijual Rp13 ribu per kilonya. Setelah melon rencananya kami akan menanam cabai atau pare," ucapnya.
