I would like to add some statements of famous personalities and AI developers- (1) Elon Musk- i think the danger of AI is much greater than the danger of nuclear warheads, i've exposure to the most cutting edge AI, and i think people should be really concerned by it. (2)-- in a report published by tech times in 2017, facebook has shut down one of its AI system after Chatboats started to negotiating with each other in another language, that can't be decoded by fb researchers till now. (3)-- in a live interview the latest and very famous humanlike robot named Sophia, she is the 1st robot to get citizenship from Saudi Arabia, tells that humans create technology's problems and once she wants to destroy humans. there are many more examples which raise concerns on AI system and at the same time it pose a threat to the humankind. this is indeed in our natural law that whose intelligence is superior will dominate other species, and in my opinion when natural intelligence and artificial intelligence are in the same boat the threat will be on natural intelligence. now coming towards Divyanshu's statements i'll contradict it in subsequent manner-- (1) #AI increased productivity ... and it strengthens economy :- As AI is replacing the majority of the tasks and other works with robots, human interference is becoming less which will cause a major problem in the employment standards. eg. A/C to a report of 2016, atleast 8 lakh Ola and Uber cabs are operating in India, suppose if we replace these cars with driver less car now there'll be no job for those driver, in UK there is 33 robots in every 10k workers, in US 93 robots in every 10k workers, and in Japan there is 213 robots in every 10k workers. there will be a huge number of unemployed people which might be beneficial for the economy but at the same time it's much more fatal to the society. (2)--#making smartest decisions and use of AI in Global Defence -- Machines are rational but, very inhuman as they don’t possess emotions and moral values. They don’t know what is ethical and what’s legal and because of this, don’t have their own judgment making skills. They do what they are told to do and therefore the judgment of right or wrong is nil for them. If they encounter a situation that is unfamiliar to them then they perform incorrectly or else break down in such situations. suppose India deployed advance AI system to handle our border security with China, our AI system will automatically took hostile step that could be lead to a large scale warfare which could be solved by negotiating or doing teamwork or could not be necessary at that particular time. (3)--# enhances our life styles... there is no such thing as a free lunch in our life AI requires huge costs Apart from the installation, its repair and maintenance also require huge costs. The software programs need frequent upgradation and cater to the needs of the changing environment. on the other hand AI poses great privacy and social risk, the risk is associated with how some organizations are collecting and processing a vast amount of user data in their AI-based system without their knowledge or consent, which can lead to concerning social consequences. there have been instances where third party companies have scrapped sensitive user data by loopholes or data breaches. # people are becoming increasingly aware that there data is not safe online. However most of them still don't realize the gravity of the situation when AI based systems process their social data in an unethical manner. 1- in 2018 a data analytics firm cambridge Analytica had analyzed the psychological and social behavior of users through their fb likes and targeted them with ad campaigns for the 2016 US presidential elections. 2nd example on privacy threat is that in jan 2020 The New York times covered a long story about an AI company Clearview that created a face recognition system to help police officers but made the mockery of data privacy by scrapping around 3 billion photos of users from social media platforms like insta, fb, twitter. 3rd and the more severe one is # DEEP FAKES... it puts the face of a person to another's body through use of AI, as long as you use this app for entertainment purpose it will be fine but the sad part is that people uses this in very unethical manner in which they upload any image of woman, and it would generate a real like nude image from it. in another eg china received severe criticism due to mass surveillance of its people without their consent through use of AI. at last my point is that the aspiration of AI has always raised these fears, because it promises- threatens, depending on one's point of view - decision making that is autonomous of detailed control with specific oversight roles and responsibilities. it's upon we that whether we should be careful in dealing with these intelligence systemsor be a part of wait and watch game and left all things for future.
