The venomous zebra cobra found in north Raleigh is trapped by a glue trap.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
To ensure fully removal of the glue from the cobra's body, we guided it into a red bucket and took it to a safe area.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.
Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved the ordeal was over.
She says she feels safe and happy now. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. However, I feel bad for the snake.

Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.
A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In addition to a heavy fever and breathing problems, respiratory failure could also result.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, she said; they are very accurate and aim straight for the eyes.
A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.
Most bites occur while people are sleeping. The effects of being bitten may last for years, according to research.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. Zebra cobras were seen on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday, after this was initially reported.
According to county records, Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. The Facebook page containing Keith Gifford's name contains several photos of snakes that he claims to own.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
