Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
We guided the cobra into a red bucket and took it to a safe location so that we could fully remove the glue from its body.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap ultimately trapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.
She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. The snake, though, must have felt bad.
The snake in question was found laying out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra had been reported missing.
Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
Someone who is bitten by the poison of a cobra would feel pain, swelling, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the aftermath, a severe fever and breathing problems would ensue, which could eventually lead to respiratory failure.
Salina Locke is an experienced veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, where she treats all types of pets.
Cobras of this species do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, since their venom hits straight for the eye since they are so accurate.

Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
Sleeping is when most bites occur. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home in 6917 Chamonix Place, near the spot where the cobra was first spotted.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
According to county records, Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
