"Pertumbuhan sub sektor ini ditopang adanya program rencana aksi nasional perkebunan kelapa sawit berkelanjutan dan juga peningkatan harga sawit." kata Edi dalam sebuah Webinar yang diadakan Sariagri.
Edi juga mengungkapkan sektor industri sawit memberikan sumbangan cukup besar pada perekonomian Indonesia. "Industri sawit memberikan sumbangan cukup besar dalam perolehan devisa negara melalui ekspor Crude Palm Oil (CPO) dan produk-produk turunannya dengan rata-rata nilai ekspor sebesar 21,4 miliar Dolar AS atau sebesar rata-rata 14,49 persen per tahun dari total ekspor non migas Indonesia," ujarnya.

Dari sisi penerimaan negara, lanjut Edi, industri sawit juga menyumbangkan pemasukan negara dalam bentuk pajak dengan estimasi Rp14 hingga Rp20 Triliun per tahun.
"Sehingga dapat disimpulkan betapa signifikannya peranan industri sawit terhadap perekonomian Indonesia secara keseluruhan," ucapnya.
Selain itu, Edi juga berkelakar bahwa sawit juga berkontribusi menjadikan Indonesia sebagai produsen biodiesel energi terbarukan yang lebih murah dan ramah lingkungan dibandingkan fossil fuel.
"Biodiesel berbasis sawit tersebut terbukti secara teknis tidak ada kendala yang signifikan dicampurkan dengan minyak solar, baik dalam B15 sejak 2015, B20 mulai awal 2016 sampai dengan B30 sejak 2020. Digunakan sebagai bahan bakar untuk mesin-mesin diesel," pungkasnya.
