Jenis radiasi ultraviolet:
1. UV-A adalah sinar ultraviolet dengan panjang gelombang yang paling pendek(100-290nm). sinar UV-A adalah penyebab kerusakan dan kerutan pada kulit, sinar ini mampus menembus permukaan kuliat dan kaca.
2. UV-B adalah sinar ultraviolet dengan panjang gelombang sedang(290-320nm). sinar UV-B memiliki intensitas tertinggi pada pukul 10 pagi hingga 2 siang dimana matahari sedang mecapai titik paling terik. sebagian besar sinarnya terblokir oleh lapizan ozon dan UV-B tidak dapat menembus kaca. mengakibatkan efek merah pada kulit, memicu katarak serta kanker kulit. namun sinar UV-B juga ternyata memiliki manfaat yaitu sintesis vitamin B pada kulit.
3. UV-C adalah sinar ultraviolet dengan panjang gelombang paling panjang(320-400nm). menyebabkan banyak kerusakan. namun sinarnya tertahan oleh ozon di lapisan atmosfer, sehingga hanya sedikit yang masuk ke bumi ini.
