How to stay current with the music of your home country even though it's been 10 years since you left.

What are you doing? I am a Russki teenager who moved to America to have a better life. I was poor in Russia and never had any fortune. Not me, per-say, but my family. Russia's young adults weren't dependent on money when they grew up. So we had no choice other than to figure out ways to earn our own money. There were many different strategies. The majority of them looked like alcoholics asking friends for a few dollars to buy their vodka bottles. It was almost the same. We looked for easy ways to make some money so that we could purchase bread. We were always hungry..

So I finally arrived in America. But is nowhere like New York, Brooklyn, Brighton Beach. This is a place that reminds me of home. It's noisy, dirty and packed with Russian language, and people can be rude. There are many Russian restaurants, music and book stores I've invested a lot of money in.

I am a huge fan of music and I enjoy reading books. There is now a way to access Russian literature on Kindle which is what has occurred recently. I have stopped buying hard-copy books. Also, I don’t have much room in our house and my wife is almost an avid hoarder, so I try my best to avoid contributing to her hoarding. I also try to avoid purchasing new stuff lying around my home that I don't really need as I don't have any where to put them. After looking intelligent for the first few months , my stacks of books turned into an unsettling image, and I finally moved them to my garage where there is still space to store my things.

Music is an entirely different genre. My job involves lots of driving, and I listen to tons of music. Being a Russian immigrants, it's tough for me to like the music I hear in America. I'm not a fan of rap and hip hop. The new stuff that kids love to dance to. I love old Russian music, including the jail type songs that are very specific to Russian music industry. They are still extremely popular in Russia , even after 20 years. Youtube is home to everything. And so I spend hours having Youtube playing music whenever I return home from work or just after work.

So, after some time I made a playlist with more than 300 songs I truly enjoy. Since I have this collection and can quickly get used to listening to music. 300 songs is quite a lot. But, when I need to listen to them in my car I do not have internet access. I require it for navigation and driving. Therefore, I make the preparation at home. yt mp3 I'm at the moment. I take a few recordings on Youtube and then convert these mp3s into MP3 files on my laptop. After that, I take the CD with me to my car, and I can listen. It can also take the Youtube playlist to print the songs. Each song is then transformed into MP3 and then stored on my computer. Then, you can convert the mp3 to an audio disc. Sometimes I'm mistaken and create a data CDthat doesn't play on my car stereo. But when audio is recorded - it's fascinating to see how technology works. I don't even need to be online and I don't require any gadgets to play mp3, I simply insert the CD into my car stereo slot and there the music from Russia is blasting in the middle of Manhattan at the time I get there as I drive around.


It's very easy to grab videos from Youtube and save the videos as MP3 files. You can then put them on your Smartphone. One of my acquaintances connected his phone to his car stereo. The music was playing with excellent sound quality in under two seconds. It was also possible to stream Spotify and Pandora radio, so you don't require a lot of internet. I'm guessing this is the next thing I'll try. But I will use only free WiFi.
