Selain itu, kelompok tani ini juga berhasil mengembangkan komoditas sayuran lainnya seperti tomat beef atau tomat besar dengan kualitas premium. Selama ini tomat beef ini banyak diimpor untuk keperluan restoran siap saji.
Pertanian Ketua Kelompok Tani Macakal, Triana Antri, menjelaskan pihaknya telah menanam Tomat beef sejak beberapa tahun lalu. Dengan masa tanam 75 hari, tomat beef ditanam dengan sistem tumpang sari.
"Tomat Beef kualitas import kami tanam untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tomat, yang selama ini masih kita impor," kata Triana Antri.
Triana berharap suatu saat tomat beef lokal dapat menekan dan mengurangi impor tomat. Harga jual tomat beef senilai Rp14.000 per kilogram dengan kualitas premium dan eksklusif.
"Kita coba dengan sayuran-sayuran eksklusif dengan standar harga jual kualitas terbaik," katanya.
Selain menanam baby buncis, dan juga tomat beef, kelompok tani Macakal juga menanam bibit impor lainnya seperti tomat cery, bayam kenzo yang juga dipasok ke pasar modern.
Selain diekspor ke Singapura, baby buncis ini juga tersedia di sejumlah supermarket modern di Jakarta dan Bandung, dengan harga jual Rp 18.000 per kilogram. Sebanyak 1,2 ton baby buncis dihasilkan 140 orang petani dari lahan seluas 22 hektare (Ha) dalam sepekan rutin diekspor ke Singapura. Kelompok Tani Macakal bisa meraup omzet antara Rp 200 sampai Rp 300 juta per bulannya.
Triana mengatakan, permintaan juga datang dari Jeddah, Arab Saudi dan Brunei Darussalam. Oleh karena itu, pihaknya berusaha memperluas lahan guna memenuhi permintaan tersebut.
“Mayoritas petani di Macakal merupakan petani milenial. Kami ingin anak-anak muda di Lembang lebih ekspansi ke pekerjaan di sektor pertanian, sehingga bisa lebih sejahtera,” ucap Triana.
