外媒報道稱，近期被輿論猛批的電子煙廠商 Juul，又遭到瞭來自前高級副總裁的起訴，聲稱該公司故意將被污染的百萬計煙彈售予消費者。Siddharth Breja 表示：Juul 明知故犯，向市場投放瞭至少約 100 萬枚薄荷味的尼古丁電子煙彈。結果他因公眾安全顧慮，而被該公司用非法手段報復。

Buzzfeed News 報道指出，在 Breja 向管理層提出問題之後，Juul 並未警告消費者他們的豆莢可能已經摻雜污染物或發起召回。
盡管這個故事聽起來有些匪夷所思，但其實並不讓我們感到陌生，尤其在前 CEO Kevin Burns 任職期間。
訴訟稱，Kevin Burns 認為 Juul 需要不惜一切代價地贏得市場，且總是將“一山不容二虎”的這句話掛在嘴邊。
麻煩始於今年 2 月，即收購 Phillip Morris 兩個月後，煙草巨頭奧馳亞集團又斥資 128 億美元買下瞭 Juul 35% 的股份。
去年，為瞭避免受到聯邦政府對調味型電子煙展開的審查、以及向公眾傳達所謂的善意，Juul 幾乎關閉瞭所有社交媒體營銷，並撤下瞭零售門店裡的果味煙彈，稱其隻會在網絡渠道銷售（不過本月也已經下架）。
與此同時，Juul 仍在銷售薄荷口味的煙彈。因其被歸類為薄荷醇，而不是調味型電子煙。
根據 Breja 的訴狀，在水果味煙彈從商店下架之後，薄荷味煙彈在 Juul 總銷售額中的占比，從去年 9 月的 1/3，躍升到瞭今年 2 月的 2/3 。
需求增加導致瞭供應的短缺，且一時間難以補足，結果 Juul 後來采取瞭令人智熄的操作。
2 月份的時候，分銷商將擺瞭一年的煙彈退回給瞭站點，但 Jull 聲稱還有至少一年才過期，隻是建議經銷商告知客戶盡快使用。
然而轉售的時候，Juul 並未如 Breja 建議的那樣，在包裝上標註有效期。次月，Breja 在一次執行層團隊會議上獲悉，Juul 有一批薄荷味 電子煙油 被污染。
訴狀中提到的數字為“大約 25 萬件”，相當於有百萬個煙彈被送往零售商。盡管尚不清楚煙油的污染程度，但 Breja 還是向主管建議發起召回、或至少向公眾發出警告。
作為回應，據稱已離職的 Boss 告訴 Breja 要記住對公司的忠誠，同時 Breja 獲悉已從供應商那裡追回瞭 700 萬美元。
最後，Breja 要求陪審團審議此案，但有關電子煙是否是導致嚴重疾病的最大隱患，仍有待進一步的調查。
