A glue trap ends a days-long search in north Raleigh for a venomous zebra cobra.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. It's very sad for the snake, though.
A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.
Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
The cobra in this species usually does not bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.
A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.
Sleeping is the most common time when people are bitten. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
It was Tuesday afternoon when police conducted a search of 6917 Chamonix Place, near the street where the snake was last seen.

In March, police visited the home four times because of an animal problem. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
At that address, Keith and Rebecca Gifford inhabit the house, according to county records. The Facebook page containing Keith Gifford's name contains several photos of snakes that he claims to own.
Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. On one of his posts, he claims to own a 7-foot zebra cobra.
