North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
We guided the cobra into a red bucket and took it to a safe location so that we could fully remove the glue from its body.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.
The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so the glue could be completely removed.
WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. Apparently, African Snakebite Institute believes the snake is very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
One would feel immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting and diarrhea if stung by a cobra's poison. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.
Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cobras typically do not bite. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
The majority of bites occur during sleep. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
