Raleigh's north side is home to a deadly zebra cobra found on a glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, law enforcement and animal control officers trapped the venomous snake on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.

To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

N.C., Raleigh Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an incident that drew widespread attention.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
She said she felt safe and really happy. After spending time on my deck, I feel like I can go outside now. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. African Snakebite Institute has described the snake as very dangerous. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
Anyone exposed to the poison of the cobra would experience immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In addition to a heavy fever and breathing problems, respiratory failure could also result.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras of this species do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, she said; they are very accurate and aim straight for the eyes.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
During sleep, most bites occur. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
According to county records, Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on TikTok. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
